How To Play The Game of Eightfist

Eightfist is a new card game, requiring equal parts luck, strategy and intuition. Through great effort over time, we have devised a binge-worthy card game that’s hard to let go once the “aha” moment sets in, which will inevitably happen – likely with your first win or your first successful swipe at an opponent.

General Method of Play

Players strive to reduce the value of their hand or Fist of Eight – the eight cards arranged in front of them – through the course of a round, by either swapping each card for a card of lesser value, or by pairing their cards up with cards of equal rank.

Players are dealt a “Fist of Eight” cards to start the game. Each player selects two cards in their fist of eight to flip over to start each round.

During each round, in addition to trying to reduce point totals, players are also trying their best to foil their opponent’s efforts to do the same, by combining pairs, using wild cards, and exchanging high cards for low through each of eight rounds.

Strategize to create a Quad – block of four matching cards; a Spike – a row of four matching cards; or Corner Guard – matching cards in each of the four corner placements, to score a whopping -20 point grab. The Two of Diamonds aka “The Trickster”, is the antithesis of this – earning one will cost you +20 points – which is the opposite of good.

Keep your own score low, while driving your opponents score higher.

The Two of Diamonds evolved over time, originating as a certain “expletive” card in the early going, coined by virtue of frustrating game-play, but which is now the “Trickster” card.
